costumes
For the dead person which is grace i thought she would be wearing ripped, bloody cloths because she is dead and been murdered.
costumes
For the investigator outfit i thought he would wear long black coat and and black trousers and a smart pair of shoes. So he is dressed all in black so he looks mysterious.
Research
The last couple of posts are research I have done in my own time to research thriller opening and title sequences. Locations
Here are a couple of images I got off of Google maps to show what the area is like around our filming location and also where it is going to bed held and set.
Here some street names so you know where it’s being filmed:

Dexter remake
When it came to filming the Dexter remake us as a group found it harder than we all thought it would. If you watch the really Dexter sequence you notice that there are a lot of close ups in it, so when we filmed it we found it hard because we did not use a tri-pod. The shots that were close to the something flat were alright because we just placed the camera on it and filmed from there but higher close ups was harder. When coming to edit it I found it hard to cut out the background notices so when you listen to the sequence you can hear what people are saying and other noises around. We took it in turns to film parts because we all needed to get use to the camera. Some of the parts that were in the actually sequence we didn’t film because we were not available to get these objects so we either missed them out or improvised.
What I have learnt from filming this is that we need to get props ready before we start filming, we should use a tri-pod.
Things I need to learn are, how to editing the sound out of the sequence.
School trip to the BMI
We had the opportunity to go to the British Film Institute in London. We went there to meet guess speakers and watch opening sequences of different film. We got advice on what to do and what not to do when making our own thriller.
We got told to take this things in consideration when filming our openings:
- Genre
- Narrative
- Character
- Atmosphere
- Setting
A website we looked at was http://www.artofthetitle.com/. They title sequences we watched were: catch me if you can, Nepolian Dynamite, Dawn of the Dead and Scott Pilgrim vs the world. They each had interesting ways of presenting the titles.

One of our guess speakers was Dexter Fletcher, he talked about how to make a successful film because he had just finished directing his own film.
One of our other guess speakers told us that we shouldn’t use these things in our opening because they have been used before and get used regularly
- Saw: victim tied up
- Scream: hooded stalker follows victim
- Waking up: clean teeth, brushing your hair, leave house
- Se7en: killer stabs Polaroid pictures
- Lock Stock: gangsters play cards
- Flashback or flash-forwards

Parity Remake - Storyboard and Timeline
The other day Danica, Andrea and I met up and filmed our remake of Parity. We filmed it the the toilet at our school. I was the filmier, I tend to tilt the camera when shooting some of my shot because i think that it make the images look better and it is a better angle to use but as you will notice in the film i could not turn the camera back round so it is straight. So next time i film i will make sure i keep the camera the right was up and still.
Here is the story board:

Evaluation of our Preliminary task
Write up of our preliminary task '6 ways to kill your husband'
When looking at our preliminary task, when the whole thing was completed. I thought we completed it really well, we managed to complete the brief quite well. The only bit we needed to work on a bit more was our camera angles for example the 180 degree rule.
Some of our conversations didn't flow but thats something we also need to work on. We used shot reverse shots and match on action on our opening which worked very well.

Story Board+ Script: 6th October 2011
Today in our lesson we had to take photos for our story board that goes towards our preliminary.
This is our story board, we made a couple of mistakes when taking the photo because this was our first time photographing a story board.
In shots 2+3 we took the photos from to far away and need to crop them down when shooting an also use a different angle in shot 2.
Also in shots 6+7+8 we jumped from photo to photo and it didn't look very continuos, so next time we are going to need to put some more shot in between the photo.
Sophie was our camera operator, Andrea was the police women and also our lights director.
